METRO MANILA, Philippines — Binatikos ng Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP) ang pag-aresto kay dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte base sa warrant of arrest mula sa International Criminal Court (ICC).

Ayon sa partido, ang ginawang hakbang ng ICC ay pagtapak sa soberenya ng Pilipinas.

Iginiit ng PDP na gumagana ang sistemang pang-hustisya sa Pilipinas at ang panghihimasok ng anumang foreign tribunal ay ilegal.

Idiniin ng partido na may kakayahan ang hudikatura ng bansa na mag-imbestiga, magsagawa ng paglilitis, at maggawad ng hustisya alinsunod sa mga umiiral na batas.

“The issuance of any warrant by the ICC is, therefore, a usurpation of judicial authority that directly contravenes the fundamental tenets of international law,” sabi pa ng partido.

Naniniwala din ang PDP na pulitika ng ang pag-aresto kay Duterte at hindi pagsunod sa prosesong legal.

Sa kasalukuyan, si Duterte ang nagsisilbing chairperson ng partido.
