Olympian Carlos Yulo walang babayarang buwis sa mga premyo – BIR
METRO MANILA, Philippines — Si Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo ay walang babayarang anumang buwis sa Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) dahil sa lahat ng mga premyo, regalo at donasyon na natanggap niya dahil sa 2024 Paris Olympics.
Ito ay base sa naamyendahang National Internal Revenue Code (NIRC), ipinaliwanag ni BIR Commissioner Romeo Lumagui Jr.
Aniya, base sa Section 32 ng NIRC, libre sa buwis ang cash at ari-arian na ibinigay kay Yulo.
“Therefore, all prizes, awards, and rewards granted to Yulo by the Paris 2024 Organizing Committee as well as the Philippine Government pursuant to existing laws, such as, but not limited to, Republic Act (RA) No. 10699, or the ‘National Athletes and Coaches Benefits and Incentives Act’, are exempt from income tax,” sabi ni Lumagui Jr.

Hindi rin aniya kailangan na ideklara ni Yulo na bahagi ng kanyang gross income ang mga natanggap na regalo o donasyon mula sa mga pribadong indibiduwal o korporasyon.
Base sa RA 10699 o ang National Athletes, Coaches, and Trainers Benefits and Incentives Act tumanggap si Yulo mula sa Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) ng P20 milyon at ito ay tinumbasan ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Tumanggap din siya ng tinatayang karagdagang higit P30 milyon na cash reward mula sa mga mambabatas ng Senado at Kamara, gayundin mula sa mga korporasyon, bukod pa sa isang condominium unit na nagkakahalaga ng P35 milyon, at dalawang sports utility vehicles (SUVs).
