Angara binigyang-pugay ng mga senador bilang DepEd chief

METRO MANILA, Philippines — Binigyang-pugay si Education Secretary Sonny Angara nitong Lunes ng kanyang mga dating kasamahan sa Senado.

Ginawa ito sa pamamagitan ng paghahain ng Senate Resolution No. 1070 na iniakda ng “6 Bomb” na kinabibilangan nina Sens. Juan Miguel Zubiri, Nancy Binay, Sherwin Gatchalian, JV Ejercito, Joel Villanueva, at Loren Legarda.

Kasama si Angara sa grupo at tinagurian silang “Magnificent 7.”

Sa kanyang sponsorship speech sa resolusyon, sinabi ni Zubiri na napatunayan na ang kahusayan ni Angara bilang mambabatas base sa iniakda nitong 340 na batas sa Kamara at Senado.

Ilan lamang sa mga huling ipinanukala at isinulong ni Angara ay ang Tatak Pinoy Act, Ladderized Education Act, Unified Student Financial Assistance System Act, Student Fare Discount Act, at Sangguniang Kabataan Reform Act.

Sinabi naman ni Ejercito na labis niyang ikinagagalak na naging malapit na magkaibigan sila ni Angara sa kabila ng pagkakaiba nila ng partido pulitikal.

Nagpahayag din ng kasiyahan sina Binay, Gatchalian, Villanueva, at Legarda dahil sa katiyakan na nasa mabuting mga kamay ngayon ang Department of Education.

Sinuportahan din nina Sens. Grace Poe, Jinggoy Estrada, Robin Padilla, Ronald dela Rosa at iba pang senador ang naturang resolusyon.
