Pinasalamatan ni Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos ang mga mayor sa Metro Manila sa pagtalima sa utos ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. na suspendihin ang pangongolekta ng pass-through fees sa mga national roads.
Nagsagawa ng pulong ang Metro Manila mayors sa tanggapan ng Metro Manila Development Authority kung saan isang resolusyon ang nabuo.
Base sa MMDA Resolution No. 23-15, idineklara ng Metro Manila Council ang moratorium sa pass-through fees collection.
“In the interest of public welfare, said LGUs are further strongly urged to suspend or discontinue the collection of fees, such as but not limited to, sticker fees, discharging fees, market fees, toll fees, entry fees, or Mayor’s permit fees, that are imposed upon all motor vehicles transporting goods and passing through any local public roads constructed and funded by said LGUs,” saad ng resolusyon.
Sabi ni Abalos, maituturing na true spirit ng bayanihan ang pagsuporta ng Metro Manila mayors.
“The suspension of collection of pass-through fees will greatly help our kababayans and their purchasing power will increase,” pahayag ni Abalos.
“Aside from easing the burden of consumers, EO 41 will likewise simplify the farm to market process of goods,” saad ni Abalos.
