Pilipinas ang host ng 2026 ASEAN Summit

Jakarta, Indonesia – Pilipinas ang magsisilbing host sa Association of Southeast Asian Nation sa 2026.

Ginawa ni Pangulong Marcos ang pahayag sa intervention ng ASEAN Summit Plenary sa 43rd ASEAN Summit and Related Summits na ginaganap dito.

Sabi ni Pangulong Marcos Jr., handa ang Pilipinas na maging punong abala sa pagpupulong.

Pangako ng Pangulo, palalakasin ang community building sa rehiyon.

“It is my pleasure to announce that the Philippines is ready to take the helm and chair ASEAN in 2026. We will fortify the foundations of our community-building and navigate ASEAN as it embarks on a new chapter. We will count on the support of fellow Member States and continue to work with our partners to strengthen ASEAN Centrality, and to promote peace, security, stability, and prosperity in the region,” aniya.

Sabi pa nito,  dapat palaging nasa puso at sentro ng ASEAN ang mga tao nito para sa community building.

“We must continue to prepare our people, especially the marginalized and the vulnerable, such as the women and the persons with disabilities in business, for the digital future. The citizens of ASEAN should reskill and upskill to maintain their leading roles in our economies,”ani Pangulong Marcos.

Pinasalamatan din ni Pangulong Marcos Jr., si Indonesian President Joko Widodo dahil sa mainit na pagtanggap sa delegasyon. Umaasa si Pangulong Marcos na makakaktrabahong muli ang mga kapwa ASEAN leaders sa susunod na pagpupulong sa 2024 kung saan ang Lao People’s Democratic Republic ang magsisilbing chairman.

Binigyang diin din ni Pangulong Marcos ang kahalagahan ng Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) para mapataas ang produksyon at maabot ang supply-chain resiliency, pati na ang pagpapalakas sa kapabilidad ng micro, small, at medium enterprises (MSMEs).
