Kuala Lumpur, Malysia – Tinalakay nina Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim at Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ang usapin ukol sa Myanmar sa bilateral meeting ng dalawa dito.
Sa joint statement, sinabi ni Anwar na tinalakay nila kung paano tinatrato ang minorities sa Myanmar. “We did touch upon Myanmar to strengthen the five-point consensus of ASEAN, but also give some flexibility, room, and space for neighboring countries to engage on an informal basis without sacrificing the issues of human rights and the treatment of minorities, particularly the Rohingyans and other Burmese middle minorities in Myanmar,” sabi ni Anwar. Taong 2021 pa nagkakagulo na si Myanmar dahil sa military coup. Sabi naman ni Pangulong Marcos, mahalaga ang ASEAN Centrality sa pagtugon sa regional issues. “We reaffirmed our commitment to support our activities within the context of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA),” pahayag ni Pangulong Marcos.MOST READ
