Sa pagtatantiya ni Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Ivan John Uy maaring nasa 55 milyong Subscriber Identity Modules (SIM) ang na-deactivate kahapon nang matapos ang deadline ng SIM registration noong Martes.
Ani Uy, ito ang mga SIM na minsan o dalawang beses lamang ginamit.
Sinabi nito na ang mga may hawak ng deactivated SIM ay wala ng “connectivity” sa tawag, data at e-wallets.
“They cannot make any calls. They cannot receive any calls. They lose all access to their data and their e-wallets,” sabi ng kalihim sa isang panayam.
Makakatanggap lamang sila ng ng text messages, ayon pa rin kay Uy, dahil sa limang araw na palugit matapos ang deadline.
“Within the five days, they can still recover their own number. It’s not an extension because they are already been cut off. So they are cut off, and they are given a five-day grace period to reactivate their phones,” diin niya.
