Naging kilala si Brawner bilang Brigade Commander ng Army 103rd Infantry Brigade sa kasagsagan ng Marawi Siege noong 2017.
Nagsilbi rin si Brawner bilang Commandant of the Cadets ng PMA kung saan tinuldukan ang hazing at maltreatment sa Cadet Corps.
