Zurich, Switzerland – Tuloy sa pangingisda ang mga Filipino sa West Philippine Sea, ayon kay Pangulong Marcos Jr. base sa napagkasunduan nila ni Chinese President Xi Jinping sa katatapos na kanyang state visit sa China kamakailan.
Ayon sa Pangulo, nagkasundo sila ni Xi na hindi haharangin ng Chinese Coast Guard ang mga Filipinong mangingisda.
“Actually, I don’t know how the word partnership was started to be used. It’s really an agreement that you will — that China will not stop our fishermen from fishing. That’s it. That’s it, very simple. Huwag nila — they will continue to allow our fishermen to fish in the fishing grounds that they have been to, they have used for many generations. That’s it. It’s that simple,” pahayag ng Pangulo.

Bago pa man bumaba sa puwesto, sinabi ni dating National Security Adviser Clarita Carlos na pinag-aaralan ng pamahalaan ng Pilipinas ang panukala ng China na magkaroon ng partnership para magkaroon ng fishing villages.
Pero paglilinaw ng Pangulo, hindi partnership kundi kasunduan ng dalawang bansa na hindi harangin ang mga Filipinong mangingisda na pumalaot sa West Philippine Sea.
Matatandaang ilang beses nang nakaranas ng harassment ang mga Filipinong mangingisda sa kamay ng mga Chinese Coast Guard kapag nangingisda sa West Philippine Sea.
