Nag-inspeksyon si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa main campus ng National Academy of Sports (NAS) sa bahagi ng New Clark City (NCC) sa Capas, Tarlac, Martes ng hapon (Hunyo 14).
Sa kaniyang talumpati, binati ng pangulo ang National Academy of Sports, Bases Conversion and Development Authority, at lahat ng katuwang sa gobyerno at pribadong sektor na nakiisa sa konstruksyon ng naturang gusali, sa kabila ng nararanasang pandemya.
Pangungunahan aniya ng naturang world-class facility ang paghahatid ng maayos na lugar para sa academic, sports training, at character development ng mga batang atleta.
“It is therefore my hope and maybe my prayer that the pioneer batch of student-athletes become well-rounded Olympians and Champions who will carry our flag in the international sports arena and inspire a deep sense of patriotism among Filipinos,” pahayag nito.
Dagdag ng Punong Ehekutibo, “Let [us] continue to work with one another to sustain our present golden era of sports—even beyond my term—keeping in mind that the legacy we are building will not be ours alone but also for the succeeding generations to come.”
Base sa Republic Act No. 11470, itinayo ang NAS ang ma-develop ang talento ng mga estudyante mula sa iba’t ibang sektor, kabilang ang indigenous communities, taong may kapansanan, at iba pang marginalized groups.
Kalakip na institusyon ang NAS System ng Department of Education (DepEd), katuwang ang Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).
