5 – 10 year validity ng gun documents niratipikahan sa Senado

Pinagtibay sa Senado ang bicameral conference committee report sa panukalang amyendahan ang Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Sinabi ni Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri layon ng panukala na mapalawig ang bisa ng license to own and possess at ang permit to carry firearms.

“With this bill, we are encouraging gun owners to register, and not be put off by bureaucratic processes. In this way, we are hoping that all firearms in the country can be accounted for, and we will hopefully have fewer criminal activities involving unlicensed and unregulated firearms,” sabi ng author at co-sponsor ng panukala.

Nakasaad sa panukala na ang mga licensed gun holder at maaring magpa-renew ng mga dokumento ng kanilang mga baril tuwing lima at 10 taon.

Sa kasalukuyang batas, tuwing dalawang taon ang renewal ng license to own and possess, gayundin ang rehistro ng mga baril.

“We are extending the validity of licenses to encourage more responsible gun ownership. The easier we make the registration and renewal process, the more we will be able to account for every firearm and every carrier in the country,” sabi pa ni Zubiri.
