Sinabi ni Senator Joel Villanueva na ang malaking bahagi ng P2.26 billion reforestation fund ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) ay maaring gamitin sa mga lugar na nasalanta ng bagyon Odette.
Aniya maaring gamitin ang pondo para sa ‘cash for work’ sa pagtatanim muli ng mga puno.
“’Using the P2.26 billion National Greening Program (NGP) budget of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) could provide jobs to residents whose livelihood has also been “blown off by the typhoon,” sabi pa ng senador.
Ayon kay Villanueva marami sa mga lugar ang napinsala ng bagyo ang kagubatan at mangrove cover kayat delikado sila mga kalamidad na maaring mangyari sa hinaharap.
“But the good thing is that the government has the money to restore this with the added bonus of providing much needed jobs to people who will work on it,” sabi pa ni Villanueva.
