Hinuli ng Department of Public Order and Safety si Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte dahil sa hindi pagsusuot ng helmet habang nagbibisikleta sa Cycle to End Violence Against Women bike event.
Bukod kay Belmonte, hinuli rin si Cherie Atilano ng UN Food System Champions dahil sa hindi pagsusuot ng helmet.
Kapwa pinagmulta sina Belmonte at Atilano ng P500 dahil sa paglabag sa City Ordinance 2942-2021.
“I commend our DPOS for strictly implementing our ordinance kasi wala silang sini-sino kapag nagpapatupad ng batas,” pahayag ni Belmonte.
Inilunsad ng lokal na pamahalaan ng Quezon City, mga embahada ng Netherlands at Austria, Philippine Commission on Women, Spark Philippines, at iba pang non-government organizations ang Cycle to End VAW event para gunitain ang 18-day campaign to end violence against women at ikatlong anibersaryo ng #RespetoNaman Movement.
Nagbisikleta ang participants sa QC Hall, Elliptical road, hanggang Agham Road at pabalik.
“Through this event, we hope to spread awareness among the general public about the importance of protecting the rights of women and girls by addressing all forms of gender-based violence,” pahayag ni Belmonte.
