Ilang senador nagpaabot na ng mensahe ng pakikiramay, pinuri si PNoy

Mula 2007 hanggang 2010 ay nagsilbi bilang miyembro ng Mataas na Kapulungan ng Kongreso ang yumaong Pangulong Noynoy Aquino.

Unang nagpa-abot ng kanyang mensahe si Senate President Vicente Sotto III.

“No matter what political side youre on when a former president passes awat, the country mourns. His death diminishes us all,” sabi ni Sotto, na agad ipinag-utos ang paglalagay sa half-mast ng bandera ng Pilipinas sa Senate ground.

Sinabi naman ni Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri na sabay silang pumasok sa Kongreso ni Aquino noong 1998 at sa Senado noong 2007.

“Through his time as Congressman, as Senator, as President, he was able to balance the weight of being an Aquino – carrying the history of the name and all the expectation that came with it – while also carving a path for himself,” sabi ni Zubiri.

Pinuri naman ni Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto ang tapang na ipinakita ni Aquino sa panunungkulan nito sa Malakanyang.

“When politics clashed with the principles he held dear, he would choose the latter, even at the expense of friendships and alliances a leader must maintain in order to govern. He preferred silent, solid work over flamboyance. He took care of his country during his watch,” ani Recto.

Sa kanyang pahayag, sinabi naming ni Sen. Richard Gordon na may mga isyu na magkaiba ang paniniwala nila ng yumaong pangulo, ngunit aniya iisa ang kanilang pangarap at ito ay mapagbuti ang Pilipinas.

“We both have the same dream of making our country great and believe that as a nation, we should assert and defend our sovereignty over what is rightfully ours,” aniya.
