Iminungkahi ng Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) na isama sa curriculum ng mga estudyante sa elementarya at high school ang leksyon sa road courtesy.
Sa liham ni LTFRB Board Member Atty. Ariel Inton kay Department of Education (Deped) Sec. Armin Luistro, sinabi nitong mahalagang maituro mula pa lamang sa murang edad ng mga bata ang kahalagahaan ng road courtesy at road safety.
Ayon kay Inton, araw-araw ay umaabot sa libo ang naitatalang traffic violations na karamihan ay nagreresulta sa aksidente at matinding pagsisikip sa daloy ng trapiko. “…there are thousands of traffic violations daily andand as you know, these violations contribute significantly to accidents and traffiv congestions, which have negative impact to our economy,” nakasaad sa liham ni Inton.
Sinabi ni Inton na kung may tamang edukasyon tungkol sa prinsipyo ng road courtesy ay mababawasan ang problema sa lansangan sa mga susunod na taon.
Paliwanag ng opisyal mahalagang ipaunawa sa mga bata ang kahalagahaan ng road safety. “I would like to respectfully suggest that the Department of Education consider to include in the curriculum for the primary and secondary education, the principles of road courtesy and to re-introduce to the minds of our youth the importance of road safety,” dagdag pa ni Inton.
Hangga’t hindi aniya nauunawaan ng husto ng mga susunod na henerasyon ang tama at nararapat na ugali sa lansangan bilang motorista at pedestrian ay mananatiling mahirap ang pagresolba sa problema sa kalsada pati na sa krimen.
