Sinalubong ni Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. ang pagdating ng 139 overseas Filipinos mula sa Myanmar.
Dumating ang Air Asia special flight na inayos ng gobyerno sa NAIA Terminal 3 bandang 6:00, Lunes ng gabi (February 15).
Ito ay dahil sa nararanasang COVID-19 travel restrictions at political situation sa naturang bansa.
“This is a testament to our government’s steadfast commitment to assisting our people across the globe. We at the DFA are doing our best to do just that by bringing our people home amid the pandemic,” pahayag ng kalihim.
Kasama sa mga na-repatriate ang 11 dependent children at apat na dependent parents, kabilang ang dalawang senior citizens.
Simula nang magkasa ng pandemic-related repatriations noong March 2020, napauwi na ng kagawaran ang 509 overseas Filipinos mula sa Myanmar via DFA-chartered flights.
