“This pandemic has shown how understaffed the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration is. The increased volume of their work at the height of the Enhanced Community Quarantine has led to an overwhelmed team, hence subpar service delivery. Our city is home to many families with OFWs,” wika ni Representative Baronda.
Ayon pa sa kinatawan ng Iloilo, “They should have a dependable, efficient and unified government agency to assist them, whether abroad or here in the country. Our OFWs must be treated the way we fondly regard them as, – mga bagong bayani. As we speak, the House passed HB 5832 last March to the Senate. The ball is now in the hands of the Upper Chamber, and it is hoped that they act on the matter with urgency”.
“Moreover, the President noted efforts to promote regional development through the establishment of special economic zones. This direction is welcomed as it supports our effort to create one for our city through HB 5794. It is our aim to help reinvigorate the economy, as well as add value to agricultural products. Our objective is to uplift the standard of living of our fellow Ilonggos.”
Hanggang sa huli aniya ng talumpati ng pangulo ay nakiusap itong alagaan natin ang ating kapwa Pilipino, “Echoing this plea, I pray that we set aside our differences and work towards emerging triumphant against the adverse effects of COVID19.” Pagtatapos ni Cong. Baronda.
