Nakatakdang bilhin ng fast-food giant na Jollibee Foods Corporation ang The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf brand sa halagang $350 million.
Sa pamamagitan ng isinagawang regulatory filing ay sinabi ni JFC vice president Valerie Amante ang pagtake-over ng Jollibee Worldwide Pte Ltd (JWPL) sa naturang multinational company.
“The acquisition of The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® brand will be JFC’s largest and most multinational so far with business presence in 27 countries,” ayon kay JFC chairman Tony Tan Caktiong.
Napag-alaman rin an ang Los Angeles-based International Coffee & Tea LLC, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf ay mayroong kabuuang 1,198 outlets na kinabibilangan ng 336 company-owned branches at 853 franchised coffee shops.
Kasama sa bilang ang 284 branches sa US at 139 naman sa Pilipinas.
Mayroon rin silang mga sangay sa mga bansa sa Asya kabilang na sa Indonesia, Singapore at Malaysia.
Noong 2018 ang Coffee Bean ay nagtala ng kabuuang kita na $313 million.
“This will add 14% to its (JFC’s) global system-wide sales, 26% to its total store network, will bring international business’ contribution to 36% of worldwide sales and will bring JFC closer to its vision to be one of the top 5 restaurant companies in the world in terms of market capitalization,” dagdag pa ni Caktiong.
Kabilang sa mga brands sa ilalim ng JFC ay ang Jollibee, Chowking, Greenwich, Red Ribbon, Mang Inasal, Yonghe King, Hong Zhuang Yuan, at Smashburger.
May bahagi rin ang JFC sa Highlands Coffee at Hard Rock Cafe franchised stores sa bansang Vietnam.
