Listahan ng mga posibleng pumalit kay Justice Velasco inilabas na

Inilabas na ng Judicial and Bar Council ang walong pangalan kung saan pipili si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ng bagong associate justice ng Supreme Court.

Sa nasabing shortlist pipiliin ang papalit sa mababakanteng posisyon ng magreretirong si Associate Justice Presbitero Velasco.

Si Velasco ay magreretiro na sa Augosto 8.

– Apolinario D. Bruselas, Jr.
– Jose Midas P. Marquez
– Rosmari D. Carandang
– Cesar L. Villanueva
– Ramon Paul L. Hernando
– Amy C. Lazaro-Javier
– Jose C. Reyes Jr.

Si Marquez ang kasalukuyang court administrador ng Supreme Court habang si Villanueva ay dating Ateneo Law School Dean.

Sina Carandang Bruselas, Garcia, Hernando, Lazaro-Javier at Reyes  ay mga associate justices ng Court of Appeals.
