Gobyerno pinagpapaliwanag sa 1-year Martial Law extension

Pinasasagot na ng Korte Suprema ang mga opisyal ng ehekutibo at kongreso sa petisyon ng grupo nina opposition Congressman Edcel Lagman na hinihiling na pigilan ang pagpapalawig ng martial law sa Mindanao ng isa pang taon.

Ito ay makaraang magpasya ang Korte Suprema na “sufficient in form and substance” ang petisyon na isinampa ni Lagman noong nakaraang Miyerkules.

Sa dalawang pahinang kautusan ng Supreme Court, binigyan nito ang tanggapan ni Solicitor General Jose Calida na magkomento sa hirit na temporary restraining order kontra sa extension ng batas militar.

Pinangalanan na respondents sa petisyon sina Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III, House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno at Armed Forces of the Philippines chief Rey Leonardo Guerrero.

Kabilang naman sa mga petitioners sina Caloocan Rep. Edgar Erice, Ifugao Rep. Teddy Baguilat Jr., Capiz Rep. Emmanuel Billones, Magdalo party-list Rep. Gary Alejano, and Akbayan party-list Rep. Tomasito Villarin.

Una rito, iginiit ng grupo ni Lagman na walang aktuwal na rebelyon sa Mindanao kaya dapat na ibasura ang idineklarang extension ng martial law sa rehiyon.
