Pagpaparetoke, papatawan ng 5% na buwis sa ilalim ng TRAIN

Papatawan ng 5% excise tax ang cosmetic surgeries at iba pang body enhancements.

Ito ang napagkasunduan ng kamara at senado matapos ang isinagawang bicameral conference committee meeting para sa panukalang Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN).

Ayon kay Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon, bago ang napagkasunduang halaga ng ipapataw na excise tax ay matindi ang pagtutol ng opposition congressmen sa pagpapataw ng naturang buwis.

Sa proposal ni Senator Sonny Angara, chairman Senate ways and means committee, nais niyang 20% ang ipataw na cosmetic tax na kalaunan ay ibinaba ng senado sa 10%.

Dagdag pa ni Drilon, pinilit niyang panatilihin sa 10% ang cosmetic tax pero matindi aniya ang ‘lobbying’ kaya nauwi sa 5% ang ipapataw na buwis.

“I fought for 10-percent tax as a matter of principle, but legislation is the art of the possible. Lobbying is a reality I have to accept,” ani Drilon.
