Pilipinas, nakakuha ng pwesto sa UNESCO board
Tagumpay ang Pilipinas na makakuha ng pwesto sa United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Ito ang inanusyo ng Department of Foreign Affairs sa katatapos lamang na Executive Board elections na ginanap sa Paris.
Sa pahayag ng DFA naging posible bid ng bansa dahil sa suporta na nakuha nito mula sa 157 member-states.
Nagpasalamat naman si Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano sa international community sa muling pagluklok sa Pilipinas sa UNESCO executive board makalipas ang ilang taon.
Pagmamalaki pa ng kalihim, nangangahuluhan lamang nito na may ‘steady progress’ na ang bansa pagdating sa human development sa mga sektor ng edukasyon, science, culture, communication at information.
Dahil sa pagkapanalo, manunungkulan ang bansa na na isa sa 58 myembro ng Executive Board na ang pangunahing tungkulin ay suriin ang programme of work at budget ng UNESCO.
