DOLE, inatasan ang PLDT na gawing regular ang 9,000 empleyado

Naglabas na ng compliance order ang Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) para ipag-utos na gawing regular ang mahigit 9,000 manggagawa ng Philippine Long Distance Telephone (PLDT) Incorporation.

Ito ay matapos mapatunayang mayroong labor-only contracting at subcontracting sa naturang kumpanya.

Ayon kay Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III, labag sa batas ang ginagawa ng PLDT at 45 contractor sa 8,720 empleyado dahil may karapatan aniya sila sa seguridad ng paggawa.

Nakasaad rin sa naturang order na dapat bayaran ng PLDT at 47 contractor ang 2,500 empleyado ng P77.5 milyon kung saan kabilang dito ang overtime pay, holiday pay, 13th month pay, service incentive leave pay at mga kaltas sa sahod nang walang pahintulot.

Hindi rin aniya nakasunod ang PLDT sa Department Order No. 18-A dahil 40 contractor lamang sa 92 contractor ang nakarehistro sa ahensya.

Inisyu ang naturang order ni DOLE-NCR Regional Director Johnson Cañete kung saan nakasaad na dapat ibigay ng PLDT ang appointment letters at payroll sa empleyado biglang patunay na naibibigay ang patas na benepisyo tulad ng mga regular na empleyado
