Paggamit ng mga gadgets habang nagmamaneho bawal na simula bukas

Ipatutupad na ng Department of Transportation (DOTr) ang revised Anti-Distracted Driving Law simula bukas, Huwebes, July 6.

Sa ilalim ng batas, mahigpit na ipagbabawal sa mga driver ang paggamit ng mobile phone o anumang gadget habang nagmamaneho.

Sakop ng batas ang pagpapadala ng mensahe, pagsagot ng tawag, paglalaro ng anumang mobile games, panonood ng pelikula gamit ang cellphone, pagbrowse ng internet, at iba pang kahalintulad na aktibidad.

Pero, nakasaad na revised implementing rules and regulations ng Republic Act 10913 na papayagan lamang ang paggamit ng cellphone habang nagmamaneho kung may emergency calls o gagamitin ang gadget bilang navigational device.

Nilinaw din ng DOTr na maaari lamang gamitin ang mobile device kung ito ay hands free o nasa speaker mode. Ang Land Transportation Office (LTO) ang lead agency para sa pagpapatupad ng batas katuwang ang Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) at Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG).

Sinumang lalabag sa nasabing batas ay magmumulta ng P5,000 para sa first offense, P10,000 para sa second offense, at P15,000 hanggang P20,000 kasama ang suspension o revocation ng driver’s license para naman sa 3rd at 4th offense.

Matatandaang noong nakaraang May 18, sinuspinde ang nasabing batas matapos magresulta ng pagkalito sa mga motorista.
