Kontrata ng mga mining companies, tuloy pa ring bubusisiin ng MICC

mining-620x412Kahit hindi nakalusot sa Commission on Appointments (CA) si Gina Lopez sa kaniyang ad interim appointment bilang secretary ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), tuloy pa rin ang pagbusisi ng Mining Industry Coordinating Council o MICC sa mga kontrata ng mga mining companies sa bansa.

Ito ang sinabi ni Finance Legal Affairs head Undersecretary Bayani Agabin, na siya ring nangangasiwa sa Domestic Finance Group ng kagawaran.

Ayon kay Agabin, mandato at kasama sa responsibilidad ng MICC na magsagawa ng review o pagrerepaso sa naging pasiya ng DENR sa panahon ni Lopez na ipasara, ikansela at patawan ng suspensiyon ang may 75 kumpanya ng minahan bunsod ng paglabag sa mining act.

Kahit na sino pa aniya ang pumalit sa posisyong inupuan ni Lopez nitong nagdaang sampung buwan, ay tuluy-tuloy ang function ng MICC.

Iginagalang naman aniya ng MICC ang naging pasya ng CA na huwag palusutin ang nominasyon ni Lopez.

“Commission on Appointments is acting within its constitutional mandate, and so we respect the judgment,” ani Agabin.
