Palasyo dumepensa sa mga banat ng pangulo sa Inquirer, ABS-CBN
Dumepensa ang Malacañang sa naging banat at pagmumura ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa Philippine Daily Inquirer at ABS-CBN na inakusahan nitong hindi nagbabalita ng patas laban sa kanya.
Sa statement na inilabas ni Presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella, iginiit nitong hindi ang kalayaan ng pamamahayag sa bansa ang target ng pangulo kung hindi ang pagiging hindi patas ng mga ito.
“The President’s remarks on ABS-CBN Corporation and Philippine Daily Inquirer is a complaint against unfairness and are not attacks against Philippine journalism.”
“The President’s statement is a call for media to be more fair and unbiased,”mensahe pa ni Abella.
Matatandaang sa kanyang speech sa Malacañang, binatikos ng pangulo ang mga may-ari ng dalawang media company dahil umano sa ‘slanted’ na pagbabalita ng mga ito.
Sa statement naman ng Philippine Daily Inquirer, sinabi nitong pinanananatili ng kumpanya ang pagiging patas at balance sa pagbabalita sa lahat ng pagkakataon.
“Since its founding in 1985, the Inquirer has upheld the highest standards of excellence in journalism. Even as we’ve courageously pursued the truth in our coverage, we’ve endeavored to get the administration’s side of any controversy,” ayon sa Inquirer.
