Magnitude 8.0 na lindol, tumama sa Papua New Guinea
Malakas na 8.0 magnitude na lindol ang yumanig sa Papua New Guinea, araw ng Linggo.
Ayon sa United States Geological Services o USGS, naitala ang 8.0 magnitude earthquake 40 kilometers west ng Panguna.
Agad naman pinawi ng Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology o Phivolcs ang anumang tsunami threat sa Pilipinas.
Sinabi ng Phivolcs na ang ‘strong distant earthquake’ na nairekord sa bahagi ng Solomon Islands ay walang ‘destructive Pacific-wide threat.’
Sa kabila nito, inihayag ng Phivolcs na ang malakas na lindol gaya ng naitala sa Papua New Guinea ay maaaring magdulot ng local tsunamis sa mga lugar na malapit sa epicenter ng pagyanig.
