DND Sec. Lorenzana, bibisita sa Pag-Asa Island

Kasunod ng gumagandang relasyon ng Pilipinas at China, pinaplanong bumisita ni Department of Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana sa Pag-Asa Island na bahagi ng pinag-aagawang Spratlys arhcipelago sa West Philippine Sea.

Bagamat wala pang petsa ng naturang pagbisita ay kasalukyan na itong pinaplantsa.

Mismong si Lorenzana ang nagkumpirma tungkol sa kanyang planong pagbisita sa nasabing isla kung saan siya ay sasamahan ni Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief Gen. Eduardo Año habang pwede rin sumama ang ilang miyembro ng media.

Kaugnay nito, hindi pa idinedetalye ni Lorenzana ang kanyang partikular na layunin sa gagawing pagbisita.

Ang Pag-Asa Island ay dating military garrison na ngayon ay tahanan na nang nasa 300 residente at siyang lugar ng bayan ng Kalayaan, isang fifth class municipality ng Palawan.

Habang bukod dito ay meron din walong military detachments ang Western Command ng AFP sa pitong islets at dalawang reefs sa rehiyon.
