DOTC, nagtalaga na ng OIC ng Philippine Coast Guard

Kasunod ng anim na buwang suspension order sa mahigit dalawampung opisyal, nagtalaga na ng officer-in-charge ng Philippine Coast Guard si Transport Secretary Arthur Tugade.

Sa kautusan na pirmado ni Sec. Tugade, itinalaga nito si Commodore Joel Garcia bilang pansamantalang pinuno ng Coast Guard kahalili ni Rear Admiral William Melad na kabilang sa sinuspinde ng Office of the Ombudsman.

Si Garcia ay nagtapos sa Philippine Merchant Marine Academy o PMMA, dating commander ng Education and Training Command, at director ng National Coast Watch Center.

Bukod dito, naging commander din ng Marine Environmental Protection Command at ng Weapons and Information System Command si Garcia at dati ring naging tagapagsalita ng PCG.

Magugunitang sinuspinde ng tanodbayan ang nasa 20 opisyal ng Coast Guard dahil sa kabiguang maliquidate ang mahigit 67.5 milyong pisong pondo.

Samantala, nakatakdang i-komisyon ng Philippine Coast Guard ngayong umaga sa pangunguna Tugade ang pangalawa sa bagong multi role response vessel ng PCG o ang BRP Malabrigo sa pamamagitan ng isang seremonya sa Pier 13 sa Manila South Harbour. / Erwin Aguilon
