JBC, naglabas na ng panibagong shortlist para sa mababakanteng posisyon sa SC
Inilabas na ng Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) ang pangalan ng pitong pasok sa shortlist para sa ikalawang mababakanteng posisyon sa Supreme Court dahil sa nakatakdang magretiro sa darating na Dec. 29 si Associate Justice Arturo Brion.
Sa naturang listahanng JBC, binubuo ito ng anim na Court of Appeals (CA) justices at isang prominenteng miyembro ng academe mula 14 na aspirants para sa nasabing posisyon.
Nanguna sa inilabas na listahan si CA Associate Justice Rosmari Carandang na nakakuha ng anim na boto mula sa seven-member council, habang sinudan naman siya nina Associate Justices Apolinario Bruselas Jr., Jose Reyes Jr. and Japar Dimaampao na may tig-aapat na boto.
Ang tatlong iba na pasok sa shortlist ay sina CA Associate Justices Amy Javier-Lazaro at Noel Tijam, at Centro Escolar University law school associate dean Rita Linda Ventura-Jimeno.
Matatandaang noong Dec. 2 ay nauna ng naglabas ang JBC ng shortlist na binubuo ng limang kandidato dahil sa pagreretiro sa Dec. 14 ni Associate Justice Jose Perez.
Kaugnay ng naunang shortlist ay nakasama rin dito sina Justices Reyes, Bruselas at Dimaampao were also in that shortlist CA Presiding Justice Andres Reyes Jr. at Sandiganbayan Associate Justice Samuel Martires.
Sa ilalim ng konstitusyon, dapat magtalaga ang Pangulo ng bagong justices sa loob ng 90 araw mula sa petsa nang mabakante ito.
