Pilipinas, isasantabi ang claim sa Scarborough kapalit ng pagpayag makapangisda ang mga Pinoy doon

Malaya na ang mga mangingisdang Pilipino na pumalaot at mangisda sa Scarborough Shoal.

Ito ang inihayag ni Foreign Affairs Secretary Perfecto Yasay, matapos kumpirmahin ito ng China sa Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Leaders’ Meeting sa Peru.

Bukod dito, sinabi ni Yasay na magkakaloob din umano ang China ng livelihood training sa mga mangingisdang Pinoy.

“The Chinese has offered our fishermen opportunities for them to develop and train, to make sure that their livelihood as fishermen will be strongly supported and they will be even able to engage themselves in the culturing of fishes that will sustain their families” paliwanag ni Yasay.

Sa panig naman ng Pilipinas, sinabi ni Yasay na nag-pledge ang pamahalaan na pansamantalang isasantabi ang territorial claims laban sa China sa pinag-aagawang teritoryo sa South China Sea o West Philippine Sea.

Sa sidelines ng APEC leaders’ meeting, nagharap sina Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte at Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Nangako si Duterte na makikipag-tulungan sa China, sabay hiling sa regional superpower at posibleng kaalyado na pangunahan ang economic development.

Si Xi naman, hiniling kay Duterte na samahan siya sa 2017 BRICS conference, isang taunang meeting ng mga major emerging economies tulad ng  Brazil, Russia, India, China at South Africa.

Ikinakasa na rin ang pagbisita ni Xi sa Pilipinas.
