Smartmatic, abswelto sa isyu ng script alteration noong 2016 elections
Inabweslto na ng fact finding team ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) ang Smartmatic kaugnay ng kontrobersyal na script alteration sa mga transparency server na ginamit para sa quick counts noong May 9 Election.
Sa labing tatlong pahinang report ng naturang fact-finding team, ay walang nilabag na protocol ng baguhin ang script noong arawa ng eleksiyon dahil walang protocol ang pangtungkol dito.
Inirekomenda din ng fact-finding team sa ahensya na ang pagbayad sa contractual obligations at retention fees sa Smartmatic na nakasaad sa Automated Election System contract ay dapat magpatuloy.
Nakasaad din sa nasabing report na noong gabi ng May 9 Election ay napag-alaman ng mga information technology personnel ng Smartmatic at Comelec na ang special character na “?” ay lumalabas sa mga kandidatong may “ñ” sa resource file na mula sa transparency server.
