CBCP, iginiit na dapat maipasa ang Whistle-blower Protection Act

cbcp-selective-justiceHinihikayat ng Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) ang Kongreso na ipasa ang Whistle-blower Protection Act sa gitna ng mas lalong pinaigting na kampanya laban sa koraspyon ng administrasyon.

Kaugnay nito ng pagkaka-convict ni Rodolfo “Jun” Lozada Jr. sa kasong graft hinggil sa maanomalyang deal noong siya ang president at chief executive officer ng Philippine Forest Corp. mula taong 2007 hanggang 2008.

Hinggil dito lubos na nababahala si Manila Auxiliary Bishop Broderick Pabillo sa naging conviction kay Lozada.

Ayon kay Pabillo ay walang proteksyon ang mga nagbubulgar ng anomalya kaya dapat mabigyan ng proteksyon ang mga ito kung gusto talagang kalabanin ang korapsyon sa gobyerno.

Dahil sa nangyari kay Lozada, natatakot si Pabillo na baka dahil dito ay manatiling tahimik na lamang ang mga whistle-blowers.

Dagdag pa niyamasasayang ang isina sagawang anti-corruption campaign ng gobyerno kung hindi maisasabatas ang Whistle-blower Protection Act.

Matatandaan na si Lozada ay naging whistle-blower sa umanoy naging katiwalian sa  multimillion na National Broadband Network (NBN) contract ng administrasyon ni dating Pangulong President Gloria-Macapagal Arroyo sa Chinese firm na ZTE Group.
