Dating UN Chief Ban Ki-moon pinarangalan sa Senado

Si dating UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon ang kauna-unahang foreign dignitary na nakapagbigay ng talumpati sa sesyon ng Senado. (SENATE PRIB PHOTO)

Gumawa ng kasaysayan sa Senado si dating United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon  dahil siya ang kauna-unahang foreign dignitary na pinayagan na magbigay ng talumpati sa sesyon.

Bago ito, pinarangalan ng mga senador si Ban sa pamamagitan ng Senate Resolution No. 929, na pagkilala sa kanyang mga nagawa sa buong mundo bilang ika-walong namuno sa UN.

Sa kanyang talumpati, binanggit ni Ban ang pagtataguyod ng peace and security, human rights at mga bagay na lubos na pinahahalagahan ng UN.

Kinilala at nagpasalamat din ito sa mga naging sakripisyo ng mga sundalong Filipino sa Battle of Yultong sa kasagsagan ng Korean war.

Ipinaalala lamang din niya na halos hindi na gumalaw para maabot ang 17 Sustainable Development Goals hanggang 2030.

“Our climate action on the road to net zero emissions by 2050 lacks the requisite urgency to meet the moment. This is why there has never been a more vital time in history to come together in cooperation, partnership and solidarity to redouble our efforts to achieve the SDGs and implement the Paris Climate Agreement,” aniya.

Samantala, nagbigay ng kanya-kanyang mensahe ng papuri sina Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda, Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva, Sens. Pia Cayetano, Risa Hontiveros at Robinhood Padilla.
