People’s initiative ng mga pulitiko, hindi para sa mga tao – Bishop Pabillo

Hinimok ni Bishop Broderick Pabillo ng Apostolic Vicariate of Taytay sa Palawan ang mamamayan na huwag pumirma sa isinusulong na People’s initiative para maamyendahan ang Saligang Batas.

Kinumpirma naman ito ng Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).

“Tell people not to sign! This is not an initiative of the people but of some politicians,” ani Pabillo sa inilabas na pahayag.

Ayon pa sa CBCP si Pabillo ang kauna-unahang obispo na isinapubliko ang kanyang oposisyon sa pamamaraan na mabago ang Saligang Batas.

Iginiit ng CBCP na ang anumang hakbang para amyendahan ang Saligang Batas ay dapat nakabase sa interes ng bansa at mamamayan.

“The bishops also had also long preferred the use of a constitutional convention over other methods, such as Congress acting as constituent assembly,” pahayag pa ng CBCP.
