Alert Level 2 itinaas ng DFA sa Israel, AFP handang tumulong sa pag-uwi ng OFWS
Inilagay na ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) sa Alert Level 2 ang sitwasyon sa Israel dahil sa nagpapatuloy na giyera sa pagitan ng puwersa ng Israel at ng militanteng grupong Hamas.
Ayon kay Foreign Affairs Usec. Eduardo de Vega, ibig sabihin ng Alert Level 2 ay restricted na o bawal na ang pagpapadala ng mga bagong manggagawa sa Israel.
Status quo muna aniya ang deployment ng OFW sa Israel.
Una nang sinabi ni de Vega na mayroong 100 OFW na hotel workers ang patungo sana sa Israel sa susunod na linggo.
Sumasailalim din aniya sa negosasyon ngayon ang pagpapadala ng caregivers na una nang sinuspendi ng Pilipinas noong 2020.
Samantala, handa ang Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) na magpadala ng dalawang C-130 at isang C-295 sa Israel para makauwi ang mga Filipino na naiiipit sa kaguluhan.
Sa pulong balitaan sa Malakanyang, sinabi ni AFP spokesman Col. Medel Aguilar, may nakalatag ng plano ang kanilang hanay para sa pagsasagawa ng humanitarian mission.
Sa ngayon, nasa 70 Filipino ang nagpahayag ng interes ng repatriation o gusto nang umuwi sa bansa.
“I am here to assure everybody that with the guidance of our President, His Excellency Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr., the Armed Forces of the Philippines is prepared to execute evacuation operation should there be a need for that,” pahayag ni Aguilar.
Sabi ni Aguilar, ang Adana Airport sa Turkey ang tinukoy na temporary safe haven sa mga ililikas na Filipinos.
“We have already identified Adana airport sa Turkey as a temporary safe haven. From there, we will be shuttling Filipinos who are affected by the conflict with the identification of the Ben Gurion airport, but all of these will only be executed based on the recommendation or the instruction coming from other government authorities,” pahayag ni Aguilar.
Sinabi naman ni Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Eduardo de Vega na hihintayin muna nila ang go signal sa Israel kung papayagan ang mga Palestinian na asawa ng mga Filipino na gustong umuwi sa bansa.
