72 workstations ng Philhealth naapektuhan ng Medusa cyber attack

Nasa 72 na workstations ng Philippine Health Insurance Corporation ang aapektuhan ng Medusa ransomware attack.

Sa Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon Public Briefing, sinabi ni Philhealth senior vice president Doctor Israel Pargas na base sa inisyal na imbestigasyon, naapektuhan ang website, e-claim system, member portal, at collection system.

“We deem it necessary to shut down all our systems first to make sure that we would be able to see the extent of the information security incident and of course to reconfigure our system,” pahayag ni Pargas.

Balik muna aniya sa manual na operasyon ang Philhealth simula noong Biyernes hanggang ngayong araw.

Ayon kay Pargas, inaasahang maibabalik na ang sistema ngayong araw o bukas.

Base aniya sa pakikipag-ugnayan ng Philhealth sa Department of Information and Communications Technology, taong 2019 pa umatake ang Medusa sa mga computer at pinatatakbo ng international syndicate.

Pero ang magandang balita po nito, Asec, is according to our initial investigation ay wala naman pong leak with regard to personal information and walang na-compromise na medical information ng ating mga miyembro sa ating unang pagsisiyasat at pag-iimbestiga,” pahayag ni Pargas.

Pinabulaanan din ni Pargas ang ulat na humihingi ng ransom ang mga attacker ng $300,000 o P17 milyon sa Philhealth.
