Face recognition sa SIM registration inihirit ng anti-crime body

Hiniling ng  Philippine Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) ang pagsama sa  face recognition process sa pagrehistro ng SIM o Subscriber Identity Module card.

Sinabi ni  PAOCC Executive Director Gilbert Cruz hindi sapat ang mga kasalukuyang proseso para malabanan ang nagpapatuloy na text scams at text spams.

Binanggit nito ang mga insidente, kung saan nairerehistro ang SIM card gamit ang “cartoon characters.”

Isa pang suhestiyon ni Cruz ay gumamit ng mga tao sa “verification process” sa mga nagpaparehistro ng SIM card.

“It will take a lot of effort for the manual verification process but this would ensure a strict and proper screening process. So we should do manual verification in the meantime,” dagdag ng opisyal.

Puna pa ni Cruz laganap ang bentahan ng pre-registered SIM cards na nagagamit sa online scams at iba pang cybercrimes.
