Romualdez sinabing tamang hakbong na ilayo sa pulitika ang MIF
Pagpapakita ng malasakit sa bansa at mamamayan ang desisyon ni Pangulong Marcos Jr., na ilayo sa pulitika ang Maharlika Investment Fund (MIF).
Reaksyon ito ni House Speaker Martin Romualdez nang ibahagi ng Punong Ehekutibo na may mga naging suhestiyon na pamunuan niya ang pangangsiwa ng kauna-unahang soverereign fund ng bansa.
Ayon kay Romualdez, tama ang naging katuwiran ni Pangulong Marcos Jr., na ang MIF ay dapat pangasiwaan ng may sapat na kakayahan at kaalaman na financial managers upang hindi mapulitika ang pondo.
“President Marcos’ demand for MIF investment decisions and management to be predicated solely on sound financial and business practices manifests his resolve to ensure the fund is adequately safeguarded and would grow to achieve its purpose,” ani Romualdez, isa sa mga may-akda ng bersyon ng Kamara ng MIF.
Dagdag pa niya: “It is a prudent move on the part of the President that would bolster its potential to achieve its purpose of mobilizing additional funds without the need for additional borrowings or taxes to accelerate the implementation of flagship infrastructure projects meant to sustain the country’s robust growth.”
Kumpiyansa si Romualdez na kung mapapangasiwaan ang Maharlika Investment Corp. (MIC) ng mga tamang tao, maaabot ang layon ng MIF na makalika ng mga trabaho at maiangat ang pamumuhay ng mamamayan.
