Sinigurado ni Pangulong Marcos Jr. na suportado ng administrasyon ang persons with disabilities (PWDs).
Sa mensahe ng Pangulo na binasa ni Executive Sec Lucas Bersamin sa 30th Apolinario Mabini Awards sa Malacañan Palace’s Heroes Hall, kasama ang mga PWDs sa mga programa at empowerment ng pamahalaan.
Panawagan ng Pangulo sa pribadong sektor, maglaan ng workspaces para sa mga PWDs at uto niya sa mga tanggapan ng pamahalaan, tugunan ang mga pangangailangan ng mga PWDs.
“As President, I assure you that the government remains dedicated to addressing the challenges faced by our PWDs so that they can fully participate in shaping our society,” President Marcos said as he stressed the need to create “bridges of opportunity, empathy, and understanding” for the PWDs,” pahayag ng Pangulo.
“I trust that the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the Department of Health, our local government units, and all our partner-agencies shall continue to strengthen our programs and services that encourage PWDs to take part in nation-building,” sabi ng Pangulo.
Hinimok pa ng Pangulo ang mga PWDs na ituloy ang mga adbokasiya.
“Continue your various advocacies that reduce prejudice and promote the acceptance and empowerment of our PWDs to eliminate stigma, discrimination, and exclusion,” dagdag ng Pangulo.
Taong 1974 nang ilunsad ng Philippine Foundation for Rehabilitation of the Disabled, Inc. (PFRD) ang Apolinario Mabini Awards para bigyangbpagkilala ang mga indibidwal, grupo at iba pa na may kontribuayon aa pagtataguyod aa kapakanan ng mga PWDs.
Binubuo ang awards ng siyam na category. Ito ay ang Organization of Persons With Disabilities Award; Empowerment of Persons With Disabilities Award; Media Advocate Award; Manuel Agcaoili Employer of the Year Award (formerly Employer of the Year Award); Local Government Unit Award; Disability Friendly Establishment Award; Special Recognition Award; Filipino with Disability Award; at Apolinario Mabini Lifetime Achievement Award.
