Noong nakaraang linggo ang pinakamainit sa kasaysayan ng mundo, ayon sa World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
“The world just had the hottest week on record, according to preliminary data,” ayon sa WMO.
Itinuturo ang climate change at pagsisimula ng El Nino sa pangunahing dahilan ng napakainit na panahon.
Bago pa ito, nakapagtala na ng tagtuyot sa Spain at matinding “heat waves” sa China at Amerika.
Sinabi pa ng WMO na ang napakataas na temperatura ay maaring magkaroon ng mapaminsalang epekto sa kapaligiran at kalikasan.
“We are in uncharted territory and we can expect more records to fall as El Nino develops further and these impacts will extend into 2024,” sabi ni Christopher Hewitt, WMO Director of Climate Services.
