DOE, BARMM pumirma ng kasunduan para sa gas at coal exploration
Sinaksihan ni Pangulong Marcos Jr. ang ceremonial signing ng Inter-Governmental Energy Board Circular para sa Joint Award of Petroleum Service Contracts and Coal Operating Contracts sa Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
Mismong sina Energy Sec. Rafael Lotilla at Akmad Brahim ng Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Energy (MENRE) ng BARMM ang lumagda sa naturang kasunduan.
Binibigyan awtorisasyon ng circular ang probisyon ng Republic Act 11054 o Organic Law for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region na magkatuwang na magbigay ng karapatan, pribilehiyo, at concessions para sa exploration, development at utilization ng uranium at fossil fuels tulad ng petroleum, natural gas at coal sa loob ng teritoryo ng BARMM.
Layunin ng circular na maging daan para sa paglago ng sektor ng enerhiya at makapang-akit ng foreign investments sa rehiyon at sa sandaling maipatupad ang circular, magsisimula na ang proseso ng aplikason para sa Petroleum Service Contracts at Coal Operating Contracts sa BARMM.
Para sa petroleum contracts, ang aplikante ay maaring local o foreign individual company o group of companies na bumubuo ng joint venture o consortium, organize o authorized para sa petroleum exploration and development.
Para naman sa coal contracts, ang aplikante ay dapat korporasyon o partnership na 60% ay Filipino owned capital at rehistrado sa Securities and Exchange Commission, o kooperatiba na awtorisado sa exploration at development ng coal.
