DOH sumaklolo sa mg apektado ng oil spill sa Mindoro

Kasabay nang paghahabol sa panahon ng mga awtoridad para mapigilan pa ang pagkalat ng langis mula sa lumubog na tanker sa dagat ng Oriental Mindoro, nagpadala na ang Department of Health ng  tulong medikal para sa mga apektadong komunidad.

Nagbigay na ng mga gamot, face masks, nebulizers, oxygen concentrators at iba pang medical supplies ang kagawaran sa pamahalaang-panglalawigan.

“This recent incident calls for a whole-of-government approach, and with the environment being a major determinant of the health of our people, the DOH is working closely together with other concerned national government agencies and local government units to mitigate the effects of the oil spill to the affected communities,” ani Health officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire.

Nakaantabay na rin ang kanilang  toxicology experts para magbigay ng suporta.

Ipinatigil na muna pansamantala ang pagsasagawa ng coastal clean-up dahil marami na ang nagkasakit bunga ng hindi pagsusuot ng tamang personal protective equipment.

Susuriin na rin, ayon kay Vergeire, ang tubig sa mga apektadong lugar para sa posibleng kontaminasyon.

Maaring magdulot ng sakit sa balat, baga, pagkahilo, pagsusuka at pananakit ng tiyan ang toxic chemicals mula sa oil spill.
