Ph-Japan defense & security cooperation pinagtibay

Tokyo, Japan—Nagkasundo sina Pangulong  Marcos Jr. at Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida na palakasin pa ang defense and security relations ng dalawang bansa.

Sa joint statement nina Marcos at Kishida, napagkasunduan ng dalawa na resolbahin at dagdagan ang defense capabilities ng Pilipinas at Japan.

Target din ng dalawang lider na paigtingin ang overall security cooperation sa pamamagitan ng  strategic reciprocal port calls at aircraft visits, paglilipat ng defense equipment at technology, pagpapatuloy sa kooperasyon at capacity building. 

Sa konkretong termino, nagkasundo ang dalawang lider na kumpletuhin ang transfer ng air-surveillance radar systems at personnel training.

Sang-ayon din ang dalawa sa nilagdaang terms of reference na may kaugnayan sa Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) activities ng Japan Self-Defense Forces (JSDF) sa Pilipinas.

Layunin ng naturang kasunduan na gawing simple ang proseso ng pagbisita sa Pilipinas ng mga miyembro ng Japan Self-Defense Forces.

Napagkasunduan din ng dalawang lider ang defense cooperation para sa pagbisita ng defense at military officials.

Ayon kay Marcos, malaking tulong ang defense equipment transfer program ng Japan sa Pilipinas para mapalalim pa ang kolaborasyon.

Ikinalugod din ng dalawang lider ang progreso ng bilateral defense exchanges ng dalawang bansa gaya ng Vice Minister’s Defense Dialogue noong December 2022, Staff Talks noong July 2022 at Japan-Philippines Military-to-Military Meeting noong October 2022.
