Special Oversight Committee ng Senado para sa confidential at intelligence funds binuo

Inisponsoran ni Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri ang resolusyon para sa pagbuo ng Special Oversight Committee on Intelligence and Confidential Funds.
“Since the 10th Congress, it has been the tradition of the Senate to constitute a Select Oversight Committee for these funds, and we must, in the 19th Congress continue this tradition,” diin ni Zubiri.
Sa 2023 General Appropriations Bill, aabot sa P9.28 billion ang confidential at intelligence funds ng ibat-ibang ahensiya ng gobyerno, kasama na ang Office of the President at Office of the Vice President.
Napakahalaga aniya ng mga naturang pondo para matiyak ang kaligtasan at seguridad ng mamamayan.
Ngunit pagdidiin niya napakahalaga na bantayan ang paggamit ng mga naturang pondo.
“We are cognizant of our own primordial role, power and responsibility as holders of the power of the purse. We, the elected representatives of the people, must ensure that the funds are judiciously and rightly used,” sabi pa ng namumuno sa Senado.
Pamumunuan ni Zubiri ang special committee at magiging miyembro sina Majority Leader Joel Villanueva; Minority Leader Koko Pimentel; Finance Committee chair, Sen. Sonny Angara; at Sen. Ronald dela Rosa.
