New Year water rate hike posible dahil sa bagsak na piso

Posibleng madagdagan ang kalbaryo ng mga konsyumer pagpasok ng bagong taon dahil sa posibleng pagtaas ng singil sa halaga ng tubig.

Ito ay ayon sa Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) at ang dahilan ay ang mababang halaga ng piso kontra sa dolyar.

Sinabi ni MWSS Regulatory Office chief regulator Patrick Ty ang epekto ng mababang halaga ng piso ay maaring makaapekto sa ‘rate rebasing’ pagpasok ng 2023.

Paliwanag niya ang ‘rate rebasing’ ay periodic review ay isinasagawa kada limang taon upang madetermina ang maximum rates na maaring singilin ng Maynilad at Manila Water sa kanilang mga kostumer.

“Lahat ng losses for foreign currency, it would be included during the rate rebasing that is ongoing right now and that will have an effect on the rates this coming January 1, 2023,” aniya.

Pagtitiyak naman ni Ty na susubukan nila  na maging mababa lamang ang madadagdag sa singil sa halaga ng tubig o gawin nilang ‘installment’ ang pagtaas sa loob ng limang taon.
