Ilang grupo, nag-rally sa tanggapan ng DOF

Nagsagawa ng kilos-protesta ang multi-sectoral Philippine civil society groups sa Department of Finance.

Ito ay para ipanawagan ang Asian Day of Action on Tax at Peoples’ Recovery mula sa pandemya sa COVID-19.

Kasama sa nagsagawa ng kilos-protesta ang Asian Peoples’ Movement on Debt and Development (APMDD), Sanlakas, Bukluran ng Manggagawang Pilipino (BMP), Oriang, Kongreso ng Pagkakaisa ng Maralitang Lungsod (KPML), at Aniban ng Manggagawa sa Agrikultura (AMA).

Ayon sa grupo, posibleng umabot sa P1 trilyon ang additional revenues kung ipatutupad ang one-time 20 porsyentong tax on wealth sa 500 richest families sa bansa.

Nagsagawa rin ng kilos-protesta ang grupo sa Cebu.

Ayon kay Lidy Nacpil, Coordinator ng APMDD, mahalaga na itulak ang People’s Recovery para tuluyan nang makabangon sa pandemya.

“Tax policies should be progressive and equitable. Tax revenues should be used to address poverty and provide for social services even more urgently needed in the face of multiple crises,” pahayag ni Nacpil.
