Mandato ng PCGG nais palawakin ni Justice Chief Remulla

Pinag-aaralan na ng Department of Justice (DOJ) ang pagpapalawak sa mandato ng Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG).

“I don’t think we need to spend the next hundred years running after the Marcoses. I don’t think its going to be that way. Might as well make good of something that’s there already, so shift the mandate to something useful for the country and more urgent,” ani Remulla.

Sinabi nito na nais niyang maging ‘central body’ ng mga kinukumpiskang ari-arian ang PCGG, kasama na ang dahil sa hindi pagbabayad ng buwis, drug trafficking, graft and corruption at iba pang krimen.

Paglilinaw naman ni Remulla na hindi mawawala ang unang layon nang itatag ang PCGG.

Katuwiran niya, inaasahan namang mababawasan ang mga binabawi sa Marcoses sa paglipas ng panahon.

Binuo ni dating Pangulong Cory Aquino ang PCGG noong 1986 upang bawiin ang tinatayang P10 bilyong halaga ng sinasabing nakaw na yaman ng pamilya at kaibigan ng yumaong Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos, Sr.
