Produksyon ng bagong P1,000 ipinahihinto ni Sen. Koko Pimentel

Nais ni Senator Aquilino Pimentel III na maimbestigahan ang Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) dahil sab ago ngunit impraktikal na P1,000 polymer note.

Gayundin, nais ni Pimentel na mabusisi ang agad-agarang pagpapalit ng BSP ng mga disenyo ng mga perang papel at barya.

Kayat hiniling nito ang BSP na itigil ang produksyon at pagpapalabas ng bagong P1,000 bunsod na rin ng mga reklamo ukol sa bilin na paggamit nito.

Diin niya nakasanayan na ng mga Filipino na ibulsa o tupiin ang kanilang mga perang papel.

Ayon pa kay Pimentel dahil sa desisyon ng BSP na gumamit ng polymer sa halip na abaka sa bagong P1,000, naapektuhan ang kabuhayan ng abaca producers.

“The issuance of these polymer bills to replace our old banknotes is absolutely absurd. Our bills should be designed in such a way that they can withstand a minimum amount of abuse like crumpling and folding. Parang gusto pa yata nila ilagay sa frame yung bills para kunwari matibay,” diin ng senador.
