Dating CBCP president Angel Lagdameo, pumanaw na sa edad na 81
Pumanaw na ang Archbishop Emeritus ng Jaro, Iloilo na si Angel Lagdameo sa edad na 81.
Kinumpirma ng Archdiocese of Jaro, Iloilo ang pagpanaw ng dating Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) president, Biyernes ng umaga (Hulyo 8).
“Archbishop Angel Lagdameo returned to our Creator just this 8:30am at the age of 81. Let us include him in our prayers and masses,” saad ng diocese sa kanilang Facebook post.
Nagsilbi si Lagdameo bilang CBCP president simula December 2005 hanggang December 2009. Bago ito, naging CBCP vice president din siya ng apat na taon.
Naupo rin noon si Lagdameo bilang chairman ng Office of Laity of the Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences.
Sa CBCP, nagsilbi rin siya bilang chairman ng Episcopal Commission on the Laity simula 1990 hanggang 2000.
Naging pari si Lagdameo ng Diocese of Lucena noong December 19, 1964, at naitalaga bilang auxiliary bishop ng Cebu noong June 1980.
Matapos ito, naitalaga si Lagdameo bilang coadjutor bishop ng Dumaguete noong January 1986, at saka naging bishop ng diocese noong May 1989.
Pinangalanan siya bilang archbishop ng Jaro noong March 11, 2000.
Tinanggap naman ni Pope Francis ang kanyang pagbibitiw noong 2018 sa edad na 77.
